A Lonely Week

I hate these weeks.  Ron is gone for a week of training.  I miss him when he is not here.  The days drag by and then it's evening and that is worse.

I'm not entirely alone though.  I am pet sitting for my boy.
They seem to think that I have taken over as the leader of the pack.  Where I go, they come.  We went for a walk out in the back field and while I walked they did hot laps around me, widening their circle each time.  I was thankful that they came back when it was time to come into the house.  After lunch, we all laid down in the bed and I could not move with one on each side of me pinning me under the blankets.
Every once in awhile they get some energy out by running around the house and then stop for a quick tackle.
We've been invited out for supper, the three of us.  This should help them with getting rid of some of their energy by playing with Ace while I visit with Andrew and Brianne.

Meanwhile at the house, Lilly is content wherever she is.  She is the Queen Bee of the troop.
So while I miss Ron, the fur family and I will hang out and then when they leave I will clean the house and go to work.  The week will go by and then I will be happy when the weekend arrives.

Aloha!

Well it's been awhile since we have been back from our cruise but I really should share some pictures and that way I can relive it as well.

We arrived in Honolulu on Friday, January 6th in the evening and in the morning we were greeted with a wonderful view of the city and ocean.
We enjoyed breakfast on a bench overlooking the beach and then went for a long walk.  In the afternoon we took a taxi to the port and checked onto the ship.
Once we boarded we explored a bit and found a good spot to have our afternoon snack.
The Centre of the ship...am I on the Titanic?
The Mall on the ship

Our very small but adequate cabin...you don't spend much time in here.

One of the many places to eat on the ship.

Our favourite place to hang out when we were on the ship.

On Sunday, we arrived in Kahului, Maui and were docked for two days.  The first day we did lots of beach explorations and Ron snorkelled.  We rented a car every day so we did lots of touring on each island.

The temperature was 27 degrees and the next day was just as warm.  On Monday, we got up bright and early and headed to the very windy and narrow road to Hana.
Since we left early we were lucky to avoid the traffic that this road usually gets with so many tourists.  We got to enjoy lots of scenery along the way.

We returned the car after two days in Maui and went to the beautiful dining room on the ship for a delicious dinner.

On Tuesday, we arrived on the Big Island and spent the day around Hilo.  We didn't have as quite of a fancy car for the day but we had a wonderful experience.  We went to see the volcano and it greeted us with more then smoke.  It was very active and everyone was quite excited.

We spent a lot of the time exploring the lava fields and it was amazing to think how these islands have been created after the devastation of a volcano.
We walked through a lava tube which was a little bit strange and I didn't want to walk too slowly through it, just in case.

At night we cruised by the volcano and saw flames and smoke and could imagine the hot lava running into the ocean forming more land for the big island.  We arrived on the other side of the island in the morning and spent Wednesday in Kona.

Driving in style this day...mustang!

On Thursday, we landed in Kauai where we would spend the last two days.  We picked up our rental vehicle and headed to the canyon with a few stops along the way.

We visited a huge botanical garden and saw brilliant coloured flowers.

The next morning was filled with so many things.  We were up for sunrise on the island.  We saw a Hawaiian Monk Seal, some turtles, waterfalls and beautiful scenery everywhere.

The falls in Fantasy Island..."Boss, the plane, the plane!"

When we returned our Camaro we found a beach to relax on for awhile before going aboard the ship for the last time.  We spent the afternoon resting in the sun.

The next morning we were back in Honolulu and we did an excursion to Pearl Harbour.  It was so interesting and solemn.

We came home and watched the movie!

As we waited at the airport we enjoyed a little more sun and then watched the sun set on our winter holiday.

We flew all night and arrived back in Calgary in the morning.  Another successful cruise!
Now....what's next?
